Enhancing service and member value to bring you ‘The GEMS Difference'
As the Government Employees Medical Scheme (GEMS) we take our commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of our valued members very seriously, as this is vital to boosting productivity in the public service, which drives development in our country.
GEMS was born from innovation of the Department of Public Service and Administration, and the spirit of innovation is a part of who we are. GEMS is constantly seeking new ways to enhance value for our members and better serve their needs.
Before the inception of GEMS in 2006, the majority of low-income members of the public service could not afford medical scheme membership, but now even the lowest earning public servants can access comprehensive medical scheme benefits. Qualifying level one to five government employees have a full 100% subsidy that allows them to join GEMS at no cost to the individual.
We have designed our range of benefit options specifically to suit members' medical usage patterns and have partnered with service providers to meet the needs of our members.
We conduct surveys to research the opinions of members and assess our service to them, and we are always looking for avenues for improvement.
This year we are committed to continue delivering improvements in the service we provide so that our 1.8 million beneficiaries can experience the GEMS difference of true member-value.
It is our responsibility at GEMS to ensure that our members always get the very best value for money when it comes to healthcare services, and more specifically their healthcare benefits.
As the medical scheme that has done more than any other to broaden access to healthcare, we believe in the principles of universal health coverage and are eager to support the implementation of National Health Insurance (NHI) with practical insights from our experience in healthcare funding.
I know that GEMS can support the groundswell towards a better, more inclusive health system in our country, and this starts with our commitment to delivering a quality GEMS member experience.
Yours in Health
