Competition: Your nominated CSI could win GEMS support ›

As a GEMS member, now's the oppertunity to become more involved in making a difference in the world around you and planting that seed of giving, and nurture it to grow. At GEMS we believe that making a difference is not just about donating funds; it's about getting involved too!

Competition: Your nominated Corporate Social Initiative (CSI) could win GEMS's support!

As a member of the GEMS family, we need your input on which CSI initiative you would like us to support.  The best member nominated community project/CSI initiative will be supported by GEMS! Submit your suggestions by 31 October 2014 to [email protected]. Quote your membership number, a summary of the CSI initiative, its impact in the community and how GEMS's support will benefit the beneficiaries.

Share your GEMS story and stand a chance to win ›

As part of the GEMS campaign we tell the real-life story of Baba and how GEMS was always there for him and his family in times of need. In the articles on the With GEMS....every member matters page, we make use of a few other good news stories to demonstrate just how much our GEMS members matter to us.

If you have a good story to share and we are able to publish it you will stand to win a dinner to the value of R1 200 at a restaurant of your choice.  If your story is selected as the "GEMS story of the year" you will stand to win a weekend break for two to the value of R30 000 and you may even become the star of our next advertising campaign.

Clamping down on irregular claims ›

To protect members' benefits, GEMS is on a drive to provide a safer environment for processing claims. And with this aim, processes have been put in place to help us to better validate the submission and payment of claims.

'Click here' for a list of healthcare providers on indirect payment. One of the process changes is the termination of direct payments to certain healthcare service providers due to restrictions placed against them by the Scheme.

Since June 2013, these healthcare service providers' claims are rejected and GEMS members are now responsible for submitting the claim for the services provided by these healthcare providers directly to the Scheme. This means members have to pay healthcare costs for services from these healthcare providers directly to them and thereafter can claim back from GEMS.

Please remember that the claims submission from the member must include corresponding details and valid proof of payment, signed by the principal member, in the form of:

  • A valid stamped receipt from the provider;
  • An electronic funds transfer (EFT) slip; or
  • A bank deposit slip.

Your support regarding this process is appreciated as GEMS continues to protect members' benefits.
If you have any queries in this regard, you can call GEMS on 0860 00 4367 or send an email to [email protected].
