We engaged in various Corporate Social Investment initiatives during the course of the reporting period in line with the relevant budget allocation of R400,000.00 approved by the Board of Trustees.
Our CSI objective for 2013 was to identify and execute projects with the view to enhance healthcare and healthcare facilities for the less fortunate. To be selected, projects must be deemed sustainable, effective and make a difference to the community.
Specific focus areas were:
We adopted Mount Arthur Senior Secondary School in rural Lady Frere, in the Eastern Cape, as a benefactor of our sanitary towels programme. During 2013, we also partnered with stakeholders, including our Service Provider Network and govenrment departments to make significant renovations at the school and to make facilities such as a computer laboratory available. The project gave a new spark to the school, improving academic results and reducing the amount of teenage pregnancies.
