Your Family Practitioner (FP) knows you best

GEMS always has our members' health at heart, and we continually strive to ensure that our members receive the very best care and get the most out of their benefits. Having one GP or family practitioner (FP) means you will receive the best possible healthcare from the right person, with the right skills and knowledge about your history.

By consulting the same FP you can ensure that your doctor develops a good understanding of your treatment history so that they can make more informed decisions about your health. You will also have better control over how your benefits are being managed.

As part of a coordinated healthcare approach, GEMS is placing a heavy emphasis on disease management and care coordination between providers. Your FP is at the heart of this process and members will be required to nominate a primary treating doctor from the GEMS Network by 1 January 2016 for their day-to-day consultations.
