Physicians are now part of the GEMS Specialist Network

The GEMS Specialist Network now gives you access to Physicians as well as Paediatricians, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. This Network will expand to even more specialities in the future.
 
How does this affect you?
The Specialist Network provides you with access to Physicians, Paediatricians, Obstetricians and Gynaecologists at a set tariff for both in- and out-of-hospital ensuring that you will not be liable for a co-payment (subject to your option's benefit limits). Furthermore, this Network serves as a Designated Service Provider (DSP) for Prescribed Minimum Benefits (PMBs).

It is important to note the following:

• If you need to see a Specialist, you must first visit your nominated GEMS Network Family Practitioner (FP).
• If you are a Sapphire and Beryl member, your nominated FP will need to call 0860 436 777 to obtain a pre-authorisation number for you. If you do not obtain a pre-authorisation number via your GEMS FP Network doctor, the Scheme will not pay for your Specialist's account.
• For all GEMS options the practice number for the nominated FP must appear on the specialist claim when it is submitted in order for the claim to be paid in full, subject to your benefits.
