GEMS Fraudline


The Board has approved that GEMS approach to fraud is one of ZERO TOLERANCE. An anonymous, toll free GEMS fraud line for members and the general public has been implemented, to support our high standards of corporate governance and business ethics. The line is managed by KPMG, an independent provider, in order to ensure anonymity and encourage unthreatened use. To protect callers the location of the secure call centre and website will also not be disclosed. Callers remain anonymous, unless they choose to be known.

The Protected Disclosures Act, also known as the Whistle Blowers Act, promotes good, accountable and transparent public and corporate governance by encouraging members and employees to speak out against corruption, unethical practices and breaches of the law in the workplace, as well as protecting the informant. The GEMS Fraud Line is a convenient and confidential avenue for disclosures to be made.

Members can contact the toll free call centre 24 hours a day, seven days a week and every day of the year. If you are afraid of being overheard when you use the telephone during the day, you can phone from home after hours.
Please follow the steps below to contact the GEMS Fraud Line:
1. Dial 0800 21 22 02 (free of charge).
2. You may remain anonymous.
3. Provide full details in respect of the fraudulent, corrupt or unethical practice to the call operator. Such details may include:
- Who
- What
- How
- Where
- When
- Value involved
4.   You will be given a reference number. Keep this confidential as you will need this number if you make a follow up call (call at a later date to add additional information to the original report) or request feedback (call at a later date to request feedback on the original call).

We encourage you to use the GEMS fraud line and service to report any incidents of fraud. Do not be a silent observer of practices that erode the very values the Scheme wishes to uphold.
