GEMS provides healthcare cover to the previously uncovered

"We now have approximately 300 000 principal members and provide healthcare cover to more than 800 000 people. Just like GEMS itself our members, when compared to other medical schemes, are relatively young and more than fifty-six percent are female. More noteworthy still is the fact that 54% of GEMS' members previously did not access the employer subsidy for medical schemes.  This means that in excess of 430 000 people who did not previously have healthcare cover now do." - Dr Eugene Watson, Principal Officer, GEMS.
