Notice of transfer of business


In terms of Section 63 of the Medical Schemes Act, Act No 131 of 1998, the Boards of Trustees of the Government Employees Medical Scheme ("GEMS") and the Medical Scheme for the Department of Correctional Services ("MEDCOR") hereby give notice of the proposed transfer of the business of MEDCOR to GEMS, effective 1 January 2010.

Information pertaining to the proposal is contained in a detailed Notice which has been made available to members and takeholders for their consideration. The full copy of the Notice will lie open for inspection and written objections, in terms of Section 63(4)&(5) of the Medical Schemes Act no 131 of 1998 until 12 November 2009 at the Office of the Registrar of Medical Schemes, at 1267 Pretorius Street, Block E, Hadefield, Hatfield and the respective scheme offices - GEMS at Hillcrest Office Park, 1st Floor, Block A, C/O Lynnwood and Dyer Road, Hillcrest, 0028 and MEDCOR at Pro Equity Court, 1250 Pretorius Street, Suite W12, 1st Floor, Hatfield, Pretoria, 0028. All written objections by interested parties must be sent to the Registrar of Medical Schemes, Private Bag X34, Hatfield, 0028 during the inspection and objection period which ends on 3 December 2009. These can also be faxed to the Registrar's Office on 012-4310766.
