Q1: Should I decide to vote for less than three (3) candidates will my vote be spoilt?
A1: Your vote will still be considered in the determination of the outcome of the vote.
Q2: Should I lose, damage or spoil my ballot paper will I be able to get another one?
A2: Yes. You will be able to obtain a replacement ballot paper by calling the Returning Officer on share call 0860 999 006.
Q3: Can I give anyone my proxy to vote on my behalf?
A3: No, this may not be done. Should you be unable to read and/or write, we rather would encourage you to get assistance from someone that is able to assist and read the instructions and candidate names step by step. You can then stop them at a point where you feel a name that is familiar has been read out and then make your cross or tick next to that name.
Q4: I am a candidate in these elections and have canvassed quite extensively. Can I collect a batch of ballot papers on behalf of my friends so they can vote for me?
A4: Unfortunately that will not be allowed. As every member in good standing on the GEMS database has had a ballot paper posted to them, they are expected to vote by making their own appropriate choices once they are satisfied with their selection by reading the biographies of the candidates.
Q5: I have received an sms notifying me of the voting process that is underway and have still not received my ballot paper in the mail?
A5: Please call the Returning Office on share call 0860 999 006 for assistance.
Q6: I have lost my Voting Instruction Booklet with the CVs of the candidates. I need your assistance.
A6: You can obtain the information on the GEMS website: www.gems.gov.za OR call The Returning Officer on share call 0860 999 006.
