The latest fraud activity on the rise involves  members being asked to present their GEMS membership cards to loan companies for surety. This practice is unethical and illegal. We need your help to stop this practice!

Only use your GEMS membership card to:

• serve as proof of membership of the Scheme when seeking healthcare services.
  
• identify the listed member and dependants on your medical scheme membership.
  
• give your doctor proof of identification of those receiving treatment.
  
• identify yourself in instances of emergencies.

Avoid possible fraud by following these guidelines:

• Only use your GEMS membership card for valid healthcare claims.
  
• Only use your membership card at valid healthcare practices.
  
• Report fraud immediately.
