To avoid out-of-pocket expenses, your doctor should not prescribe medicine that is not on the formulary (medicine list) for the benefit option you are on, or more expenive than the Scheme's reference - i.e.: the medicine price list (MPL).
Your chronic medicine benefit will last longer if you get your medicine from the Chronic DSP and use generic medicine where possible. By getting your medicine from the Chronic DSP you will avoid a 30% co-payment. Pharmacists at the Chronic DSP are available to advise members on generic alternatives and MPL products changes, as well as on queries related to their drugs.
