There for mommy-to-be and baby

All pregnant members and dependants can access the GEMS Maternity Programme. To access maternity benefits, pregnant mothers-to-be must register as soon as their pregnancy is confirmed.

To register, you can:

• Call 0860 00 4367, press 3 (three) for registered members, then press 1 (one) and then 9 (nine) for the Maternity Programme; or
• Visit the GEMS website at www.gems.gov.za - under ‘Members' click on ‘Maternity Programme' to access the enrolment form. Once your form is filled in you can either:

- fax your form to 0861 00 4367;
- email it to [email protected];   
- post it to the GEMS Maternity Programme, Private Bag X782, Cape Town, 8000; or
- hand it in at a GEMS Walk-in Centre (locations of our 18 Walk-in Centres are in your member guide and at  www.gems.gov.za).

Once registered you will receive:

• A pregnancy, birth and early parenting book.
• A Care Plan to guide your doctor in the appropriate treatment necessary for the duration of your pregnancy.
• Telephonic advice and support from registration up to six weeks after birth.
• Free maternity goody bag during your third trimester.
